First of all, what is meant by “success” to you? Success means attaining some desired object or end.
Notice the word “desired”. Because that word suggests that success is a variable! It is different for different people!
Still some people achieve success at the level they themselves don’t believe and still there are others who can’t even reach their full potential! Why is this?
Society’s set rules are mediocre! Those rules are only made to “fit you in”. You’ll just be a sheep in a flock! Nothing else! You won’t stand out! And still everyone believes that they are unique! Really? Like really? Is that what you’re capable of?
For me, standing out is not enough, I want to be on top, in 1%! And though you believe it or not, every person wants to be better than others! Some don’t really say it! And there are some who not only say it outright, they shout it from the belly, and believe that they will be better than everybody else! These guys are, of course, on top!
So, I studied these guys and discovered three (3) qualities they all possess! It’s not hard or smart work or persistence or something like that! Well, those are only for beginners! But the guys on top, the ones who are pro, for them, it’s a whole new world, baby! Let’s just go deep!
OBSESSION
So, obsession! God, I love this word! Many think that it’s a negative word. Come on, seriously? Do you think Edison would have kept going even after 1,000 failures without obsession for experimenting? Do you think Arnold Schwarzenegger would have been Mr. Olympic at the age of 16 without his obsession for bodybuilding? Like, really? At the age 16, fvckin 16?
Take any top performer from any area of life. All of them were obsessed for something! Society calls it passion. But no – Obsession is different! What makes it different I don’t really know! Maybe because you can put your passion into words to describe it to others. But obsession – man, you’re just obsessed!
And one crucial thing – these successful people were not obsessed to achieve “success”! They all were obsessed over a skill. They wanted to master the fvck out of it! They mastered it at the level that they themselves invented new things in their chosen skills! Not for success, not for money, and of course not to “fit in”. They just couldn’t think about anything else other than their obsessed skill!
That’s what happens when you are obsessed!
You know average person has 25,000 thoughts a day! 25,000! In a day! In 24 hours! That’s like switching thoughts for every 0.0001 second! What? Do you complete any thought at all? On the other hand, high performance person, who is at the top of his skill has only 10,000-15,000 thoughts a day! So, they focus more on thoughts which are only necessary! That’s why they are on top! Now, let’s consider the top athletes! You know how many thoughts top athletes allow in their mind in a day? 3,000-4,000 thoughts a day! Only which matter and are necessary and will give better results than their last result!
Now, you know what is obsession and how to get it! And most importantly about the results it gives!
Is it still negative?
And when you are obsessed for something would you think you are working hard? You wouldn’t feel like you are working at all! So, “hard work and smart work” case is closed! And you will think you have nothing to do other than this, you wouldn’t want to do anything else than your obsession! So, there’s no question of persistence! Because that’s the only thing you have!
DOMINATION
So, did you think these guys just keep thinking and doing the work for which they are obsessed? You are far behind from the truth bro!
It’s not your fault though! These guys are always 10-20 steps ahead than others! It’s their defect! They don’t think in terms of competing in the market, like all of normal people do. Their goal is to dominate the market and keep dominating it all the day everyday!
These guys have accepted the 10X Rule of Grant Cordone. He says, “If competition is healthy, then domination is immunity.” See the difference? When most of us are merely thinking about surviving, these guys are after fvckin immortality! And you wonder when you are going to achieve success like them!
Does domination sound hard to you? It’s nothing new dude! It’s just the latest version of “survival of the fittest” theory! When dominating, you have to think what your competition is doing and also what they are not willing to do. And by offering the services or going the distance, others are not willing to go, you get the advantage over them! If you don’t do this, and someone else does, they will have the advantage over you and they will be dominating you! Would you want that? You can’t dominate a market or a skill or a work, with the mind of that of competitor. Your thoughts and your actions will be on the next level than that of competing! It’s not that you will go on shouting at everybody, calling names and disrespecting them, no! That’s not domination! That’s an asshole behavior!
When dominating, you will dominate yourself first! You will dominate yourself with winning thoughts. You will dominate your day, with small wins! By starting your day with 3-4 small wins, building up your confidence and then doing the most important and hardest thing of the day right after! This way, you’ll be sure you’re attacking your day with full energy and enthusiasm!
Just like I said before, you’ll go the distance others are not willing to go! It could mean anything! Offering the services other competitors are withholding. Tapping an entirely new market or a new field, which no one else is considering. Or it could mean just keep working even if all are saying “that’s enough, now relax!”
You are getting me? These guys have changed their algorithms so much, that you can’t find any relation that these top guys and mediocre people live in the same world!
Domination is not an easy job. But it makes everything else simple! You have to decide the matters which will help you expand yourself, your firm or your skillset. This is the significance of domination; that it purely concentrates on expansion. Even if the market conditions are decreasing, you must solely focus on increasing and expansion and growing!
You can achieve this, by identifying the areas which help you expand and dominate and then doubling down on them. Suppose you have a company, the areas which will expand it will be sales and marketing and new products offering. So, in this case you have to focus on these areas only and gradually increase your efforts on them. And if you are a freelancer possessing a unique skill, then your areas of expansion might be learning better and faster ways to master your skill; or finding tools which assist you in your skill or it can be managing yourself and time better.
Either ways, it’s not about snatching away from anyone, it’s about abundance. It’s about creating more and more opportunities for yourself.
CREATION/INVENTION
Yes, it is true! The top guys are all creators! Some have created an entirely new industry; some created unique products; some created new ways of offering the same knowledge or product or services; and some have just made hard things easy!
Understand this, you don’t have to be a scientist to create or invent something! Hell, if you could make other people laugh, you have created value in their life! Like Charlie Chaplin did! And all the other comedians do! The difference between Charlie and others is he was obsessed, so obsessed that he literally lived his character the whole time! So, it’s no surprise that he dominated the comedy films. (there’s that quick tip in integrating all three things! Thank me later J )
The most important word is “value”. That is the crucial component of this whole article! You have to add value to people’s lives. Means you have to make their life easier; or maybe some things of their life easier!
It’s not the matter of “Next Big Thing”! It doesn’t matter whether you solve the biggest problem in people’s lives or you just help them make small things more easy and manageable!
What normal people do is they look at the problem and start complaining. While the top guys go find the way to solve that problem. And with obsession they find a solution. So, by offering that solution to people they add value to their life. And they keep doing it until they become the dominator in their market!
